Introduction
Circular Economy is a key element of Lazio Region 2021-2027 Programming Documents.
One of the Specialization Areas of Lazio Region S3 is Green Economy focused on three macro-thematic areas:
1. Circular Economy
2. Green Chemistry & Bioeconomy
3. Energy
A Greener Europe is Priority 2 of 2021-2027 ERDF REGIONAL PROGRAM (RP). One of its Specific Objectives is SO 2.6 PROMOTE THE TRANSITION TO A CIRCULAR AND RESOURCE-EFFICIENT ECONOMY.
Therefore Lazio Region positions the circular economy as a core pillar of the ecological transition and industrial competitiveness. The strategy aims to transform production models towards resource efficiency, reduce dependence on raw materials and integrate sustainability with innovation and quality to strengthen the regional economic system.
The regional approach focuses on key sectors with high environmental impact (construction and buildings, agro-food, industrial waste) and strong circular potential (eco-innovation in production processes and reduction of industrial waste; energy efficiency and development of renewable energy communities; smart building models; valorization of by-products and bio-based materials, recovery of critical raw materials).
Some Key Actions of interest for the RECEBA addresses:
- Financial Incentives for SMEs to foster circular transition through eco-innovation: Projects focus on reducing waste, increasing the use of secondary raw materials and improving product durability and repairability.
- Ecologically Equipped Industrial Areas (named APEA): support is provided for industrial symbiosis and collaborative resource management within dedicated industrial areas, enabling shared infrastructure and circular flows.
- Innovation and Open Innovation Initiatives (mainly through programs promoted by Lazio Innova).

Enhance a Green Transition integrated Program that supports capacity building and skills development of SMEs, green industrial innovation and industrial symbiosis, increase Green Public Procurement as a lever to speed up the circular economy.
